Notes:

    1. All pricing is displayed in US Dollars
    2. Text message pricing to send and receive is per segment.  Texts that are longer than 160 GSM characters or contain non GSM characters will be split into multiple segments and recompiled into one message on the recipient’s phone.
    3. You will be charged the per segment rate for each segment sent (eg. if you are in the US and the message is sent in 3 segments you will be charged 3 x 1c = 3c).
    4. Text messages are purchased in prepaid ‘bundles’. Initial text ‘bundles’ can be purchased in $20, $50 and $100 amounts.  Once you have signed up, you can ‘top up’ your bundle for any amount.
    5. Our service sends messages at a rate of 1 message per second to avoid carrier blocking on bulk message sending which can cause your messages to be undelivered.
    6. Currently, bundles will not automatically ‘top up’ when volumes are low.  In future, automatic top up will be available.

Set Up and Activation

      1. After purchasing your bundle and subscription which includes your dedicated ‘from’ phone number, you will be redirected to a form to provide your HubID, HubSpot API key and nominated email address to receive SMS reply notifications.
      2. We will allocate your ‘from’ number and advise you of the number for your records.
      3. We will activate your Inbound SMS Addon and connect it to your HubSpot account.
      4. Setup is usually complete within minutes of receiving your details above.
      5. During the activation process, we will automatically create a new custom Property Group called “Inbound SMS” and a new custom property called “SMS Text Message” in your HubSpot application. The SMS Text field cannot be changed and is used to input the content of your SMS Message.
      6. We will also create a Sample SMS Message Workflow in your HubSpot application with the webhook URL for you to send your SMS messages.
      7. Sending SMS text messages to individuals or groups is dictated by the rules of the HubSpot workflow you create.
      8. All messages sent and received will appear in the HubSpot contact’s timeline with the content of the message.
      9. An email notification will be sent to your nominated email account when new text messages are received.
      10. You can reply to received messages straight from within HubSpot or the HubSpot marketing mobile app.  This functionality requires a workflow to be set up and we can advise you how to set up that workflow.

How to send an SMS Text Message from HubSpot

There are two simple steps to sending an SMS from within any workflow in HubSpot.  If you need to know how to create workflows within HubSpot, you can find detailed instructions here: https://knowledge.hubspot.com/workflows-user-guide-v2/how-to-set-up-a-workflow-in-hubspot

[IMPORTANT NOTE] The HubSpot property in the contact record uses to determine where to send the SMS text message is the Mobile Phone Number property.  The phone number can be entered in any format and our system will convert it to an international phone number format to send e.g.: (414) 206 1557 will be converted to +14142061557.

Step 1

The first thing you will need to do is tell HubSpot what text you would like to send. The Inbound SMS Addon sends the contents of the SMS Text property in the Inbound SMS property group created when your Addon was activated.

In your HubSpot workflow, click the plus symbol at the point you’d like to send the SMS to create a new action.

Select the “Set Contact Property Value” action

Select the “SMS Text” property.  Then insert the text you would like to send in the message and click Save

Step 2

Next, under the “Set Contact Property Value” action you just created, click the plus symbol to add another action.

Select the “Trigger a Webhook” action.  Note that you may need to scroll down your list of actions to see the action.

In the Webhook action configuration, enter the following details:

Method: POST
Webhook URL: https://inboundaddons.com/[filename supplied when you join] Use Authentication: leave unchecked

Click Save

That’s it!  Now all you need to do is enroll a contact into the workflow to test it.  Don’t forget to turn your workflow on if you have created a new workflow.

Each contact that has been sent an SMS message will have a note applied to their contact timeline to advise that an SMS message was sent and the content of the message. If the contact replies to the message, a note will be placed on their contact timeline advising of the content of the reply and an email message is sent to the nominated email notification address you assigned during signup to Inbound SMS.
