About Inbound Addons

What exactly are Inbound Addons?

Inbound Addons are WordPress plugins that integrate with Hubspot.  See “What Addons do you currently have?” below for details about the specific plugins.

What Addons are currently available?

  • Inbound Member is a plugin that creates a membership site or customer portal in WordPress and integrates with HubSpot. It is available now.
  • Inbound Payments is a plugin that integrates Stripe Checkout with HubSpot and is launching soon.
  • Inbound NPS is a plugin that integrates with your Net Promoter Score data in Hubspot and provides an NPS dashboard in WordPress.  It is launching soon. This plugin includes a tutorial on setting up your NPS system in HubSpot and takes about an hour to complete.
  • If you would like other plugins built, contact us and we can discuss the possibility of building it for you.

Why did you create these Addons?

We love HubSpot and the Inbound Marketing Methodology.  We use it in our business extensively and in creating Inbound marketing and automation for our clients at Getudigital.  But we couldn’t automate our WordPress membership sites with HubSpot because there was no plugin to integrate the two.  So we decided to build one.  The uplift we saw when we started using Inbound with our Membership sites was astounding so we decided to offer it to the world.

Once we built the membership addon, we found that clients could use the plugin to create Customer Portals for their customers, even if they weren’t building a membership site.  This gave our client’s customers secure, private access to view and edit their customer information which reduced the administrative costs of our clients and increased convenience for their customers.

From that foundation, we discovered other addons we wanted to increase the efficiencies of our business and our clients’ businesses.  When we couldn’t find a reasonably priced solution, we built one.

About Inbound SMS Text Messages

What can I do with Inbound SMS

Inbound SMS allows HubSpot users to send and receive SMS text messages to contacts in their HubSpot CRM using a custom workflow action in HubSpot workflows.

How much does it cost?

Please see the detailed pricing page here.

How long does it take for messages to send?

That largely depends on HubSpot workflows. Usually messages are sent from the workflows within seconds, however bulk messages can take minutes to send from HubSpot.  Occasionally we’ve experienced delays with HubSpot workflows and in that case the messages can’t be sent until they can be processed through the workflows.

Once they hit our servers messages are sent at a rate of 1 message per second.  This is done to avoid carrier blocking on bulk message sending which can cause your messages to be undelivered.

What is a segment?

Text messages are sent according to international SMS industry standards which are set and adhered to by telecommunications carriers. The standards dictate that they are sent and received in 160 GSM character chunks or “segments”.

When a message is longer than 160 characters or if it contains non GSM characters, it is broken up into multiple segments.  In order for those segments to be recompiled correctly on the recipient’s device, headers need to be attached to the segments which take up character space in each segment.  For example, a 160 character message is usually 1 segment (this is dependent on the character type being standard GSM characters). But a 320 character message can be up to 3 or 4 segments depending on the headers that need to be appended to ensure successful compilation on receipt.

When we communicate with carriers to send out messages, we send them one segment at a time according to the SMS messaging standards.

Messages over 160 characters will be received on the recipient’s phone as one single message. The price of the message will be the sum of the total number of segments.

What HubSpot property (or field) is used for the phone number?

We use the HubSpot Mobile Phone Number property as the number to send the message to.

Where do I enter the message that I want sent to an individual contact?

When you sign up with our service we will populate your HubSpot application with a new property group called Inbound SMS and a new property called SMS Text Message. To send a message to an individual contact from their contact record, you need to make sure the message is entered into this property before the message is sent.

Can I have my company name as the sender ID instead of a phone number?

Alphanumeric Sender ID allows you to set your company name or brand as the Sender ID when sending one-way SMS messages to supported countries. Alphanumeric Sender IDs may be up to 11 characters. Accepted characters include the digits 0 through 9, A-Z, a-z. They may not be only numbers. Please note that you can not receive replies to your text messages if you use an Alphanumeric Sender ID.

A custom coding fee is payable for setting up Alphanumeric Sender ID’s with our service. If you are interested in setting this up, please email support@inboundaddons.com and we can provide a quote.

To see if your country supports Alphanumeric Sender ID’s please see the list here.

Can I have an Alphanumeric Sender ID AND another number to be able to receive replies?

Yes, however this requires custom coding for your HubSpot application which incurs a one off fee. Also, you would need to purchase two subscriptions (one for the Alphanumeric Sender ID and one for the other number to receive replies).

You would also need to set a custom property within HubSpot each time you wish to send a text message to let our system know whether to send the message from the Alphanumeric Sender ID or the phone number.

If you are interested in this setup please contact support@inboundaddons.com to discuss the coding fee and custom coding options.
